Description
- Powering the systems down
- Initializing or “booting” the systems
- Monitor the system consoles
- Load and unload magnetic tapes
- Perform tape drive maintenance functions
- Initiate system management runs
- Maintain console logs on system status and problems
- Maintain logs of tapes used in system management runs
- Note malfunctions and initiating request for maintenance assistance
- Reconfigure the systems to bypass failing components
- Identify CCF computer communications problems as per procedures
- Respond to user/administrator inquiries that may be posed face to face of by telephone
- Maintain a recorded system status telephone message
- Record an explanation of any unscheduled computer, communications, or peripherals system downtime that is expect to last longer than 10 minutes
- Contact appropriate user/administrator per procedures
- Collect, check quality, and distribute various output products. This includes packaging and mailing some products and materials to remote customer sites
- Distribute and Receive Firewall Authentication devices and or software to appropriate/ designated customer staff
- Distribute E-approval Passwords to appropriate/designated customer staff
- Collect and file or return magnetic tapes to customers after use
- Check in tapes to be used or stored in the computer room
- Check out tapes to be removed from the computer room
- Perform magnetic cartridge tape maintenance, such as replacing cases and labeling and writing internal tape mark
- Maintain records of tape management actions and report the information to the COTR or designated representative upon request
- Conduct periodic physical inventories to verify tape inventory records
- Refer customers who wish to buy tapes to the COTR for assistance
- Enforce computer area access policies
- Identify computer area environment control failures and initiating corrective action
- Perform file backup procedures
- Prevent unauthorized access to files and materials
- Participate in disaster recovery activities
