Delivering IT Integration Services to ASCR at the U.S. Department of Energy

Mission-Critical Hardware Improvements Aid Science Computing Programs

The Challenge

When the U.S. Department of Energy needed a wide range of highly technical IT capabilities for its Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) and other DOE-funded advance scientific computing programs, the agency sought a comprehensive solution. The project required everything IT, including connectivity and IT infrastructure support, cyber security, configuration management, end-user assistance, web development, email services, disaster recovery, contingency planning, incident response service, systems vulnerability analysis and scanning services, and risk assessment.

Accomplishing the tasks called for research, building and maintaining applications, performing evaluations, recommendations, procurements, management and maintenance of hardware systems, and operating and maintaining the telecommunications center, as well as day-to-day operations, maintenance, and technical assistance in the operation of the office’s research and development network.
